Purchase Ledger Administrator

F G Adamson & Son is a major supplier of garden machinery / groundscare equipment in Yorkshire & Lincolnshire, supplying equipment & supporting maintenance & repair services to golf courses, local authorities, caravan parks, contractors, private estates & homeowners.  Across our sites at Swanland, East Yorkshire and Langworth, Lincolnshire we currently employ approximately forty members of staff and now require to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Administrator at our Swanland depot.

Job Function: the primary role of the position is to administer the Purchase Ledger process in a timely, accurate and efficient manner, but will also include other ad hoc related duties, including the preparation of the sales invoices and ledger administration of our small hire company.

 Essential Duties:

  • Process supplier invoices to purchase orders – highlight any discrepancies and resolve
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Payment of invoices via BACS and cheques
  • Reconcile Purchase Ledger, bank statements & petty cash etc
  • Process & submission of VAT returns & EC Sales Lists
  • Maintenance of nominals
  • Processing of staff expenses
  • Reconciliation of deposit accounts
  • Administrative tasks, including filing
  • Set up and maintenance of supplier accounts
  • Ad hoc handling of customer queries
  • Preparation of sales invoices for our small hire company and ledger administration

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in Purchase Ledger administration
  • Experience in completing VAT and EC Sales List returns
  • Experience in on-line banking and payments to suppliers
  • Knowledge of database and accounting applications to provide financial services
  • Ability to use standard computer applications, internet functions and manufacturer applications – must be experienced in using Excel & Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Excellent customer relation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
